Day 29: A Heart Check
As we continue spending 30 minutes alone with the Lord each day, I want to challenge you to do a heart check today.
It has become trendy in our culture to be loudly opinionated and to "not have a filter." But God expects something different.
How often do we find ourselves rehashing the day's frustrations at night—feeling slighted in our marriages, workplaces, or friendships? When others irritate us with their choices, culture encourages us to respond with anger and disgust.
But that desire to "put people in their place" is not from the Lord.
It is a self-centered need for vindication and affirmation.
A godly warrior keeps their spirit in check, choosing restraint over retaliation. Proverbs 16:32 reminds us:
"Whoever is slow to anger is better than the mighty, and he who rules his spirit than he who takes a city."
This kind of self-control is impossible in our own strength. We cannot manufacture the fruits of the Spirit in our flesh. We must allow the Holy Spirit to produce them in us.
So, where does that leave you today? Go talk to Him—and watch the beautiful transformation in your own life unfold.
